This fashionable boutique hotel differentiates itself very clearly from others – “Unusually personal” is the motto of Lutz Hesse and it shows. The Mandala is highly appreciated by the trendy and the creative crowd who enjoy the spacious, pure, contemporary rooms as well as the friendly and attentive service. Space is a key factor for the uncomplicated atmosphere of the Mandala, where suites offer between 40sqm and 200sqm of living room.
Full of state-of-the art technology, discretely integrated into the room’s design, the needs of both business and leisure travellers are met. The Mandala Hotel certainly does things differently from other hotels; there is no lobby, the minibar is included in the room rate and when even the smallest room is 40 square meters, that is a clear difference to other city hotels.
The Mandala hotel is a quiet retreat, centrally located in a modern building on the Potsdamerplatz; just across from the Sony Center. One in five guests stay for longer than four weeks. Potsdamerplatz is Berlins beating heart that was reinstalled after being the center of the death strip during the days of the Berlin Wall. The in-house Facil restaurant is under guidance of the youngest German Chef ever to be awarded a Michelin star, Michael Kempf, born in 1977.
The stand-alone glass house on the fifth floor offers Mediterranean food on an evergreen terrace, in summer the glass roof can be opened. Reservation is recommended. The Qiu bar on the first floor is a haven for whiskeys, cocktails and sours, all accompanied by tasty appetizers. QIU is an important stop on the Berlin bar-scene amongst the local glitterati. In the bar you can relax and enjoy a bird’s eye view of the action on the street below. The Ono spa adds on to the winning Mandala philosophy: It is open 7 days a week and has a view over Berlin from a fantastic terrace.
